Yoga // Practice & Straps

Hello lovely people! I hope you are having a great Tuesday. Today I wanted to share with you a few photos I put on Instagram yesterday.

So often while browsing Instagram or the internet we are bombarded with photos of perfect handstands or headstands or arm balances and they all look so impossible. Every 'perfect' pose started somewhere and this is where I am right now with a few things I am working on. Yoga takes time, it is a life long journey. So don't try to rush it or beat yourself up if you face plant during crow ~ trust me, we have all done it!

Everyone is different and everyone's yoga practice is different. Never compare yourself to what the person on the mat next to you is doing, focus on yourself and focus on your breath. For me I am great at balancing but I can be tight in my hips and hamstrings at times. Especially my hamstrings! I find it useful to work with a strap for poses where I need to stretch them out. Don't be afraid to use props ~ blocks, straps, walls, fences, trees ~ to help you with your practice.

The left side of my body is so much more open than the right side of my body. Maybe it's the plates and nuts in my arm, maybe that's just the way I am.... but I'm okay with it, it's just me. The important thing is to be okay with where you are in your yoga and your life RIGHT NOW and own it... quirks and all!
