Have you ever hit snooze a few too many times or been too mentally exhausted after a day of work to hit the yoga mat? I've been there trust me. The bumper January/ February edition of OM Yoga Magazine has a section dedicated to making 2015 your best year yet. It may be February but it is not too late to start, in fact now could be the perfect time. The days are slowly getting longer and spring is right around the corner.
Come to your mat with the intention of practising for just five minutes. Often as I plonk my bum down onto the mat everything feels stiff, sleep is still in my eyes, so I make a simple intention just to move my body for five minutes. More often than not five minutes turns into thirty or more. Every day is different but I think that the key to a daily practice is listening to what your body needs that day. Some days I crave a sweaty power flow, others I need a slower more restorative flow.
Put on a YouTube video. Brain still mush and can't focus. That's where the power of the internet comes in! There are so many great FREE yoga videos on the internet, it's just a case of finding out what resonates with you.
Make some time just before bed to hop on your mat. Yes! PJs and all. I often find that spending a just ten minutes before I bed is the perfect way to get some yoga into my day. Even something as simple as quietening the mind and focusing on the breath is a perfect way to help with a restful nights sleep.
