Well hello! Welcome to the first day of our Back to Basics Yoga Project. Today we are talking about how to do downward facing dog - a pose that is seen again and again in flow classes. Although it eventually becomes a resting pose it can be quite a tough one when you are first starting out in your yoga practice. One of the most common complaints is wrist pain, when you think about it though we don't typically up a lot of weight on our hands, so when we start to of course it is going to feel odd! This is a pose where you will see strength and flexibility build so just have faith and keep practising. For now, don't worry about getting your heels on the mat, make sure the foundation is correct and then work on elongating the hamstrings. I break down the pose fully in the video below.
Be sure to share your progress in the comments below and check in with us on Instagram or Facebook - tagging #BTBYoga @jaynebecca @rosiyoga & @TeekiUK so that we can see your photos and check in with you! For Day 2 don't forget to check out Rosalie's blog, YouTube and Instagram.
