Wooo it's Friday! I'm excited for the weekend because we are taking a little road trip to Devon after I have taught tonight's class. It's gorgeous weather and I am looking forward to having a little downtime. I made the most of the sunshine this week and I went out to the garden to film a 30 minute heart opening yoga flow for you all. Sometimes just getting outside and being in nature can make a big difference to your sense of wellbeing - give it a try!
So I know that 'heart opening yoga' can sound a bit hippy dippy but essentially we are practising a lot of back-bends with a focus on lengthening the front and back body. Often the thoracic spine (the upper back) can be a little neglected and generally people can be a little tight in this area. This practice will help you to open up this area and create space behind the heart space - hence we are literally opening up out heart. This practice is suitable for all levels. Remember to be mindful of your body and only take each pose as deep as what feels good. Work towards your edge but never into any pain. This is an energising, feel good practice - I always feel amazing after a good back-bend flow so if you are feeling a little low on energy or suffering from an afternoon slump then this sequence is for you!
I hope you enjoy. In the comments below let me know how it goes for you or if you have a request for a future yoga video tell me! Please be sure to SUBSCRIBE to my channel if you haven't done so already - it would make my day.
