Anyone who knows me well or even a little knows that I am a huge fan of flip flops. I always have been. I have been known to wear them as early as March and refuse to let go of summer by not taking them off until mid October! I love them because I can throw them on and make my way from yoga class to yoga class. However they aren't always the dressiest looking items of footwear so this is where the Vivobarefoot Shiva sandal comes in!
Vivobarefoot makes (yep, you guessed it) shoes with barefoot technology. I'm a huge believer that barefoot is better and as a yoga teacher I am barefoot a lot so I was intrigued as to how I would get on with these shoes. On a total side note here is a yoga teacher pet peeve of mine (I love YogaByCandace and her 'Yoga Class Pet Peeves' so be sure to give that a read too!) - students who come to yoga class and insist on wearing socks and then proceed to slip on the mat. Now I can and do suggest for them to take them off but a surprising number of people have feet phobias, go figure. Oh and while we are at it, pilates socks are for pilates not yoga ;)
Anyway, back to the shoes! Firstly I like how they are a lot smarter looking than my favourite beat up pair of flip flops, I feel like I could comfortably wear these out on a summer evening with a cute dress. When I first put them on they honestly felt huge on my feet but that just goes to show me how restricted you often are in regular shoes. The sole is super thin and flexible to let your feet move. I found them perfect for running around between classes in a city environment.
Vivobarefoot shoes are sustainability sourced and eco-friendly. They also make running shoes and boots.
Have you tried out barefoot shoes? I would love to know what you think!
