So this happened today and I just had to share! If you have been following my blog for a while you will know that I have been working on my handstands on and off for a long, long time. My journey to handstand has been one full off falls, of being disheartened to having breakthrough moments. I don't practice them every single day like I probably should but lately I have been incorporating a lot of core work into both my classes and my personal practice - hello navasana!
This afternoon I hopped onto oneOeight looking for a 30 minute practice which would make me sweat! Well that ended up being a rather intense (but fun, kinda!) core sequence with Rachel Brathen. I had taken a few handstand hops during the practice but once done I decided to clear some space in my front room and see what happened. For me one of the key things I have found while practising handstand is to think about lifting up through my right hip, I don't know why but it seems to help me to lock in my core and keep my hips over my shoulders - I have Tracy to thank for that tip! So yes, this is the longest I have held a handstand - press play on the Instagram post below.
So never, never give up. Keep practising. Todays affirmation - YES I CAN.
