Don't ask me about the blog title, it just felt right at 11am on a Sunday morning! I have switched up my fitness routine recently so I thought that maybe you guys might be interested in what I have been doing. My new routine seems to be working and sticking and most importantly of all I have more energy and am feeling amazing!

At the beginning of April I dropped my two double classes at Thornbury which ran 6:30-8:30pm. As much as I loved leading these classes a new opportunity to lead a Strala class had popped up at Wilder Studios so it was a bit of a no brainer really for me to switch up my schedule, as I did and I love it! Going from leading double classes of 30 people per class at the gym to leading one class of 20 people has been such a relief for my mind and body. Leading those double classes on Mondays and Wednesdays really took it out of my body and I didn't realise just how much until I was able to switch out the Wednesday class. I am currently leading nine classes a week and I think this is perfect for right now. They are more evenly spread Sunday-Friday with Saturdays as a day off. Plus Matt has been coming along to my Wednesday evening Strala class which I love because it means I get to spend more time with him. It's like my 'bring your fiancé to work' class!

I have rediscovered my love for HIIT workouts over the past two weeks. With more energy and what seems more time I have been trickling HIIT workouts back into my routine twice a week. I love that you sweat buckets, they are effective and best of all you are done in 20-25 minutes. I follow HIIT workouts on YouTube or from one of my DVDs - I love the Tone It Up girls, they make the workouts super fun but they make you SWEAT! I did this workout on Tuesday and honestly felt like I was going to die, so worth it though! I feel that I have so much more energy and I feel strong and healthy.

The thing about leading so many classes is that I don't always find as much time for my own practice as I would like. My favourite time to practice is before leading a yoga class, getting to the studio early, popping on some tunes and just flowing with the beats and my breath. Those are the best types of practice. I don't focus on particular poses or sequences I just kinda move and flow in a way that feels good. Right now I am loving handstands and splits, so they seem to work their way into my practice a lot!

I'm not one for following restricted diets or detoxes but I do try my very best to find balance. I am aware that my body needs carbs - the right kinda of carbs that is - brown rice and veggie bowls for lunch are my favourite for a quick lunch. I also like to add tuna or salmon to meals once or twice a week. I don't like to write about food or what I eat too much on my blog or social media because I feel that right now people can be very judgemental about what other people eat and sometimes push views onto others. I don't agree with this. I'm very much of the opinion that what works for one person doesn't work for another. That we should be away from labelling each other and ourselves. Does that make sense? I hope so.
Do you have any HIIT workouts that you love? How do you balance work and workouts? I'd love to know! Leave me a comment.
