Happy Friday! Boy, have I had a busy day. I've finally been able to send off our wedding invitations (yay!) so should all be winging their way to our guests, it's exciting because it makes it even more real that this is happening! Although to be honest I don't think it will feel totally real until my dress arrives, which is July, so a little while longer to wait. I've also been busy with a little life admin, yogi admin and finalising the details of my upcoming July workshop. Busy busy! We are heading down to Exeter this weekend for a couple of days so I am very much looking forward to escaping tonight. After yoga class of course!
Yoga to Build Core Strength
Today I have put together a video of some of my favourite sequences for building core strength. Good core strength is so important for the practice of yoga, as well as for our well-being as a whole. Your core or your abdominals support your lower back, the spine, and the internal organs. If you suffer from lower back pain, chances are you need to strengthen the core to help support the lumbar area (lower back) of the spine. Our core is also where our sense of confidence and inner power lies, it's the base for how we walk through life.
This video can be used as part of your yoga practice or just on it's own. While moving through the sequences think about engaging the belly and pulling the lower ribs in toward the spine to connect to the transverse abdominal muscles. Stay easy in your body, don't forget to breath and for the headstand part of the sequence feel free to use a wall behind you for extra support!
Make sure to have the best weekend!
