When I first started to put together yoga retreat weekends back in 2014 I dreamed about how wonderful it would be if I could find the perfect place right on the coast where I could lead a yoga retreat. Well let me tell you my friends I manifested those dreams into reality and when I stumbled across this gorgeous 200 year old grade II listed country house on the west Wales coast I just knew I had found the right place.
After booking the venue way back when Matt and I took a long weekend to that very coastline to explore and scope out the area. It did not disappoint so I was so excited to return in September for our retreat.
Our hosts for the weekend Linda and Alun were so welcoming to as I arrived early on Friday afternoon to set up and get settled before the retreat yogis arrived. It was so welcome as I had driven over myself from Bristol and really felt like I had arrived at a place I could call home after a long drive. Linda was looking after the food for the weekend and was so accommodating for my vegan and nut free yogis and no one went hungry!!
The rooms were to die for and every bathroom had a waterfall shower. I do love myself a waterfall shower, even more so than a bath tub if I am honest! The rooms varied from super luxury with a four poster bed and an en-suite bathroom to a twin single room and a shared bathroom so there were options for everyone's budget. Everyone had lots of space and the living areas of the house were perfect to snuggle up with a book in.
For the yoga (because that's what people were there for right?!) I put together classes which built up around a theme for the weekend - that of creating space and feeling a sense of gratitude. My classes varied from a back to basics yoga flow to a two hour arm balancing workshop. Everyone had a lot of fun and we had a few breakthroughs over the weekend! We had such a fantastic group of yogis and I loved meeting each and every one, spending time connecting, exploring and making space.
My retreats are always super relaxed and my biggest wish is that everyone feels comfortable and right at home so for that reason I choose to lead my yoga retreats as I do my classes - with an open heart, an honest and down to earth themes, readings from books I find inspiring and super fun playlists. On my retreats you'll find wholesome food, time for yourself mixed in with guided meditations and breath work to round off your yoga practice. Yes you can eat cake, no there won't be any awkward enforced silent periods, yes you can watch Strictly Come Dancing! Come as you are and be you.
I love putting together little gift bags for my retreat yogis as a welcome gift, for the autumn yoga retreat they contained -
- Chewy Molasses Spelt Cookies. Made by me from the Oh She Glows Everyday* cookbook.
- YogiTea Selections.
- Tropic Skincare Body Pebble (kindly supplied by my sister in law who works for Tropic).
- Jayne Becca Yoga discounts for future retreats.
We had such an amazing weekend and I feel so thankful for these retreat weekends as they are truly magical.
