I am a huge believer in self development and I love to read so it goes without saying that I am always on the look out for new yoga books to add to my arsenal of knowledge. I thought that I would share with you three books that I have enjoyed reading lately and I have found them so useful while doing this yoga teacher thing.
1. The Handstanding Yogi - First off, this book is beautiful! The cover is stunning and it is a book which wouldn't look out of place on a coffee table. It is co-written by Ash Bond (a yoga teacher) and Gabrielle Parker (a professional acrobat and handstand instructor) and is a fusion of storytelling from a personal perspective and an instructional handstand book. It makes a great read and I couldn't put it down. The technical handstand instructions and exercises are something that I will come back to time and time again for not only my personal practice but for fusing into my yoga classes. PS: You can win a copy of The Handstanding Yogi below so keep on reading!
2. Yoga Teaching Handbook - When this book landed in my mailbox I didn't know what to expect as I hadn't heard of the editor of the book but what I was greeted with was a book filled with knowledge from yoga instructors within the industry. It has sections on everything from sequencing a class to getting the most out of a yoga business. I think this book is a great reference point for anyone starting out in the yoga world.
3. Guiding Strala - This is my go to book for when I need to inspire my classes, organise a workshop or when I just need a little reminder that I am doing the right things in my classes along this path of yoga. What I love the most about the way Tara writes is that everything is written so simply, in a way which you can understand, there is no fancy yoga talk - and I love that! This book covers everything from sequencing a strala yoga class, to setting up the space, the language to use and a sprinkling of business talk. This is a must have book.
