This past weekend was gorgeous - sunshine, a trip to London and back, spending time with my gorgeous cousin and sunburn. Yep, sunburn. That happened and I feel pretty stupid about it. Anyway, I shall start from the beginning!
Saturday was my first day off teaching for 12 days so of course I went to do the things all yoga teachers do on their days off - a yoga workshop in London. Matt dropped me at the station for about 6:30am, my train was at 7:05am but I have a thing about being late - I hate it, it just makes me anxious - so I'm always ridiculously early to everything. Despite the lack of coffee at the train station (it's 6:30am, people need coffee!) I made it to London on time and feeling surprisingly awake!
I met my friend Kayleigh at the station and then hopped on the tube - I do love London for it's super easy public transport system!
The workshop I was attending was a Namaslay themed yoga workshop with Candace from YogaByCandace. I have followed Candace on her blog and Intsagram for years so I was excited to finally meet someone who has been a huge inspiration along my own yoga journey. The workshop was magical, sweaty, perfectly rounded and I picked up a lot of tips for my arm balances and the fact that I do need to incorporate more core and shoulder strengthening into my own practice. I love attending workshops and going back to being a student - there is always something to learn.
After the workshop we headed out to lunch to Cook Daily in Boxpark. I had the vegan chickpea curry - it was delish and much needed after two hours of sweaty yoga. Luckily the place is super casual and didn't mind us in our sweaty yoga gear. The rest of the afternoon sped by super quick, after saying goodbye to my friend Kat after lunch Kayleigh and I had a wander around the shops, drank coffee and ate cupcakes. All in all a fab afternoon really!
I headed home on the train feeling tired, sore, inspired and so happy to see Matt at the other end!
Our Sunday had a different kind of pace. I woke up early and headed out to teach my Sunday morning yoga class at the gym - which I haven't done in other a month with all the craziness going on so it was so good to be back.
My cousin Eleanor is working at the Cotswolds Distillery over the summer and is only a hour and a half away from us so she came over on Sunday for a catch up and a day in Bristol. I love having people to stay and showing them around the city - we went out for lunch, had a walk along the harbour side where we saw the boat where I will be teaching Sunday morning yoga at the end of the month (there are a few tickets left!), wandered up to the cathedral and then of course the suspension bridge.
We round of the evening by watching Lego Batman and eating cheese, not a bad Sunday night!
The only bad thing about the weekend is I managed to catch the sun yesterday, I think it was when we were sat down at lunch. Usually I am so good at making sure I put on sun cream but I totally under estimated how strong the sun was yesterday and so I have ended up with a rather red looking chest. I always use an alo vera gel cream to help heal it but I would love to know if you have any suggestions. It's right on my chest and so sore so I have a major case of the poor mes this morning.
I hope you had a wonderful weekend!
